"Not feeling the emotions, but my body feels tense"
When things get tough, you might not focus much on your emotions, but your body speaks up. That tension or discomfort you feel is a message from a deeper part of yourself. Your body is shining light on something that needs to change, even if it's hard to understand at first.
Paying attention to your body can be tricky because it's non-verbal, much like a child trying to communicate without words. It's often easier to focus on a child who's asking for help than to listen to our own body's signals. Yet, these feelings are a message from a part of you that's strong and not giving up.
"The wound is the place where the light enters you" — Rumi. Your body is shining light on something that needs to change, even if it's hard to understand at first.
Think of your body as a river flowing through a valley. The tension and discomfort are like bends in the river. These bends don't block the water, but they cause it to slow down, shift direction, and carve a new path over time. Instead of fighting against the bends, the water naturally adapts, flowing around them with patience and persistence. Your body, like the river, is showing you where to slow down and redirect your energy.
Anxiety does not show up to punish or harm you. It's a messenger, like the wind, pushing you toward the change that's waiting for you. Each feeling you experience—whether it's a tight chest, racing thoughts, or overwhelming emotions—carries a message from within. These feelings are not enemies; they are empowering you to make the changes your life is asking for.
